1. South African privacy law / POPIA
MzansiGo is operated by Mzansigo Innovations PTY LTD, Registration No. 2026/442656/07. We process personal information in line with South African privacy law, including the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), and related lawful operational requirements.
2. Account and identity information
We may collect account details such as name, contact details, phone number, email address, password or authentication details, profile photo, account status, consent records and support history. Where identity verification is required, we may process identity evidence and verification outcomes.
3. Rider information
For Riders, we may process profile details, saved places such as Home, Work, School and Favourites, booking preferences, trip history, cancellation records, support requests, trusted contacts and safety-related information connected to a trip.
4. Driver information
For Drivers, we may process registration details, onboarding information, profile photo, licence and PrDP details where applicable, vehicle information, banking or payout information, driver status, document review outcomes, trip offers, accepted trips, cancellations, earnings and wallet activity.
5. Location information
MzansiGo uses location information to support pickup, destination, ETA, route, trip tracking, safety, navigation and operational support features. Location information may be collected from Riders and Drivers while using the app or during an active trip, depending on permissions and product configuration.
6. Trip and pricing information
We process trip details such as pickup, destination, distance, time estimates, route information, selected service, fare, VAT where applicable, Driver earnings, cancellations, trip status and completion records.
7. Safety information
Safety information may include pickup verification status, vehicle registration confirmation, trip-specific QR verification, incident reports, support notes, trusted contact activity, suspicious activity reports and other records required to protect Riders, Drivers and the platform.
8. Trusted contacts and GoGuardian
If a Rider uses trusted contacts or GoGuardian features, MzansiGo may process the trusted contact details provided by the Rider and share selected trip safety information where the product supports it. Riders should only provide trusted contact details where they have permission to do so.
9. Student / age-based eligibility information
Where student, senior or age-based eligibility features are enabled, MzansiGo may process information needed to confirm eligibility. We do not use editable self-declared age alone for automatic eligibility where trusted verification is required.
10. Device and security information
We may process device identifiers, operating system information, app version, login records, trusted-device status, IP address, security events and diagnostic information to protect accounts and prevent misuse.
11. Website information
When visitors use mzansigosa.co.za, we may process information submitted through public forms, browser and device information, page requests and security logs. We do not add marketing or advertising trackers unless configured with the required approvals and consent processes.
12. Why MzansiGo processes personal information
We process personal information to create and manage accounts, provide Rider and Driver services, match trips, calculate prices and earnings, support safety features, provide support, manage Driver and Vehicle verification, prevent fraud, comply with legal duties, maintain platform security and improve service reliability.
13. Legal grounds for processing
Our legal grounds may include consent, contract performance, legal obligation, legitimate interests, protection of Riders and Drivers, fraud prevention, operational safety and compliance with applicable law.
14. Children and student users
MzansiGo services are intended for users who may lawfully use the platform. Student-focused services may require additional verification and safeguards. Where a minor is involved, MzansiGo will apply the consent and protection requirements required by law and product policy.
15. Location permissions
Location permissions are used only where needed for app functionality such as pickup, ETA, routing, trip tracking, safety and Driver navigation. Users may control permissions through device settings, but disabling location permissions may limit app functionality.
16. Camera permissions
Camera permission may be used for profile photos, document upload, QR pickup verification or other product-controlled verification features. Camera access is requested only when the user chooses a feature that requires it.
17. Sharing personal information
MzansiGo shares personal information only where necessary to operate the platform, support safety, comply with law, use service providers or deliver a requested feature. We do not sell personal information.
18. Rider-facing Driver/Vehicle information
Riders may see relevant Driver and Vehicle information such as Driver name, profile photo, vehicle make/model/colour where available, registration number, verification state, pickup status and trip safety status.
19. Driver-facing Rider information
Drivers may see relevant Rider and trip information required to perform a trip, such as Rider name, pickup location, destination or trip summary, trip status, contact or masked communication options where enabled and safety status where relevant.
20. Trusted contacts
Trusted contacts may receive selected trip safety information where a Rider enables that feature. Trusted contacts are used for safety support and should not be used for unrelated marketing.
21. Service providers
We may use service providers for hosting, storage, routing, maps, communications, payment support, security, analytics where approved, customer support and operational tools. Service providers must process information only for authorised purposes.
22. Authorities/legal requirements
We may disclose information where required by law, court order, regulator, law enforcement request or where necessary to protect rights, safety, property, Riders, Drivers, staff or the platform.
23. Maps and routing
MzansiGo may use maps, routing and geolocation services to calculate routes, ETAs, distances and navigation. These services may process location-related information needed to provide routing functionality.
24. Payments/pricing/Driver earnings
Payment, pricing and Driver earnings information may be processed to calculate Rider totals, VAT where applicable, Driver earnings, wallet records, refunds, disputes, reporting and compliance.
25. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, platform operation, safety, dispute handling, legal compliance, audit, tax, accounting, fraud prevention and legitimate business records.
26. Security
MzansiGo uses reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal information, including access controls, role-based workflows, trusted-device concepts, secure storage practices and operational review processes. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.
27. International processing
Some service providers or infrastructure may process information outside South Africa. Where this occurs, MzansiGo will take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards or lawful transfer grounds apply.
28. Privacy rights
Under POPIA, data subjects may request access to personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion or restriction where legally permitted, objection to certain processing and information about how personal information is used.
29. Account deletion
Users may request account deletion or assistance with deletion by visiting https://mzansigosa.co.za/delete-account or contacting support@mzansigosa.co.za. Some records may be retained where legally required or necessary for safety, disputes, accounting, fraud prevention or compliance.
30. Marketing communications
MzansiGo may send service messages related to accounts, trips, safety and operations. Marketing messages will be sent only where legally permitted and may be opted out of where required.
31. Third-party links
The website or app may link to third-party websites or services. MzansiGo is not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. Users should review the privacy terms of those services.
32. Policy changes
MzansiGo may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date will be updated when material changes are made.
